Last week, Mahopac staff, faculty, students, and community members gathered in the Mahopac High School Gym to honor five more seniors who will be playing college sports next year. Congratulations to Alexis LeBlanc, Emma DeMuro, Julianna Greco, Mia Caldarella, and Brendan Mahoney.

The Mahopac High School Counseling Department hosted a career fair today for all high school students. Professionals from dozens of fields offered students critical advice about possible future professions and finding their way in the working world.

MHS's Jennifer Degl gathered 150 students for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on Monday. Students gathered on the turf field equipped with eclipse glasses to watch a near-total eclipse right outside the school. Check out a photo of the eclipse taken by MHS student Yesenia Lewis.
Today the Mahopac CSD celebrated its Library Media Specialists and Library Aides. They offer essential support to our students in finding the resources they need to further their education and have made excellent use of the District's many new library spaces to benefit students.

Five MHS students joined over 700 other students from across Westchester and Putnam County to showcase graduate-level science research projects at the 2024 Regeneron Westchester Science & Engineering Fair. Their projects won four awards after months or even years of hard work.
Tonight, the Mahopac CSD Board of Education will hold a regular board meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Mahopac High School Auditorium. Superintendent Christine Tona will host Community Connections at 6:30 p.m. outside the MHS auditorium, before the board meeting.

The Mahopac Central School District is happy to announce that Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) will be offered for the 2024-2025 school year. UPK will provide free full-day pre-kindergarten to 148 children selected through a lottery. Eligible children are those who will be eligible for kindergarten in the 2025-2026 school year. We are able to provide this free UPK program through State Aid that can only be used for this purpose which results in no cost to taxpayers. While additional information will be provided next week, here is the timeline for next steps in the creation of the UPK program:
- March 19, 2024: MCSD Board Meeting to approve UPK providers.
- March 20, 2024: Information will be shared with a link to apply for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Lottery Entry Form. This link will also be on the District website.
- April 5, 2024: Deadline for completing the Lottery Entry Form.
- April 8, 2024: At 9 a.m. a drawing will be conducted at Mahopac Falls School in the auditorium and will be live-streamed on the District website. Parents are welcome to attend the drawing on this date. All applicants will be notified of whether their child is selected through the lottery or placed on a waitlist.
