Mahopac Middle School has introduced a new Multicultural Club, creating opportunities for students to learn about and celebrate cultures from around the world.
The club, led by teachers Arianna Ramos and Sydney DeToma, aims to promote inclusivity and diversity within the school community while encouraging students to explore and appreciate different traditions and perspectives.
Since its launch, the club has already seen strong participation and enthusiasm from students. Members worked together to create a welcoming bulletin board in the school’s main stairwell, helping to set the tone for a space that celebrates the many cultures represented within the school community.
Students have also taken part in interactive activities, including learning dances from a variety of cultures such as Irish step dancing, salsa, Greek sirtaki, bhangra and traditional African dance. The hands-on experiences have provided a fun and engaging way for students to connect with cultures from around the world.
Moving forward, the club will continue to explore different cultures through activities centered around art, food, music and more, helping to build understanding and appreciation across the school community.
Through initiatives like the Multicultural Club, Mahopac Middle School continues to foster an inclusive environment where all students feel welcomed, valued and connected.
